Infrastructure Bill Provides EV Charging Funding Opportunities for Truckstop and Travel Plaza Operators
Lawmakers are taking steps to advance electric vehicle technology, and the recently passed bipartisan infrastructure bill has allotted funds to install EV charging infrastructure. The new legislation directs state and local governments that receive money from the Department of Transportation to partner with industry stake-holders, including truckstop and travel plaza operators.
Grant Opportunities Available for Electric Vehicle Charging
The bipartisan Infrastructure investment and Jobs Acts enacted in late 2021 includes two different grant programs for electric vehicle charging and other alternative fuel infrastructure (natural gas, hydrogen and propane). Most of the $7.5 billion available is expected to go toward EV charging stations. Any business interested in learning more about these grant opportunities should contact its state department of transportation as soon as possible to express interest and get a sense of how the department intends to distribute the grant dollars.
