Bill and Carolyn Moon Scholarship 2024 Winners

The 黑料社区Foundation is pleased to announce it has awarded $25,000 in educational scholarships through the Bill and Carolyn Moon Scholarship program to five students with ties to the truck stop and travel center industry.鈥  

Recipients of the 黑料社区Foundation鈥檚 2024 Bill and Carolyn Moon Scholarship are:

  • Jaken Lindsey,  Petro Stopping Center #352, Gadsden, AL
  • Madison Medlen, TravelCenters of America, Westlake, OH 
  • Katie Nelsen, Sapp Bros. Columbus, Columbus, NE
  • Jennifer Walsh, TravelCenters of America, Westlake, OH

Bill and Carolyn Moon Scholarship scholarships are financed by proceeds from the 黑料社区Connect fundraiser and tax-deductible contributions to the 黑料社区Foundation.听

鈥淭hrough the incredible generosity of travel center companies, individuals and vendor companies, we were able to again provide these scholarships,鈥 said . 鈥淭he Bill and Carolyn Moon Scholarship Program has been awarding scholarships for more than 30 years.鈥澛

The scholarships provide much-needed and deserved assistance to those planning for their post-secondary education. All truck stop and travel center owners and operators, their employees, and their legal dependents are eligible. Applicants are selected based on a short essay, academic merit, and community activities. 

The scholarship program is named after Bill and Carolyn Moon, who founded the Iowa 80 Group and made substantial contributions to NATSO, actively supporting and participating in industry-related government affairs issues.

Wlazlowski Neuman leads 黑料社区and the 黑料社区Foundation鈥檚 public affairs initiatives and communications strategies to promote the truck stop and travel center industry to the public, opinion leaders, elected officials, and the media. Her outreach includes a spectrum of policy issues facing the industry, with a particular focus on transportation and fuel issues, truck parking, and human trafficking. She serves as NATSO鈥檚 representative on the U.S. Department of Transportation鈥檚 National Truck Parking Coalition, the Clean Freight Coalition, and various state truck parking technical advisory committees. She is the architect of the truck stop and travel center industry鈥檚 anti-human trafficking campaign and currently serves as a Committee member for the U.S. Department of Transportation鈥檚 Human Trafficking Advisory Council. Wlazlowski Neuman serves on the American Highway Users Policy and Government Affairs Committee.
