NATSO’s Domestic Study Tour Visits Lee Hi Travel Plaza

September 14 – 15, 2016 the ºÚÁÏÉçÇøFoundation is taking truckstop operators to Lexington, Va. to tour best-in-class truckstops during NATSO’s Domestic Study Tour.

Study Tour attendees will tour Lee Hi Travel Plaza in Lexington, Virginia along with Fairfield BP and White’s Travel Center.

Established in 1959, Lee Hi Travel Plaza is owned by Bobby Berkstresser.

Lee Hi Travel Plaza was featured on the Travel Channel’s Show Food Paradise or Truck Stop Paradise, as the show was temporarily renamed for the episode.

The truckstop has a barber shop, christian chapel and paved parking for 330 trucks.

It is known for its adundance of regional specialities including cheese made five miles away, apple butter made by the local volunteer fire department and honey that is made five miles away. The location sells Virginia peanuts and, during certain times of the year, salted Virginia hams. Fried pies, delivered by a Monnonite bakery, are a best seller at Lee Hi Travel Plaza. A Mennonite bakery delivers the pies twice a week.

Lee Hi works with LargeCarMag to host a truck show, with the most recent show featuring 200 trucks.
