The $484 billion interim coronavirus relief measure would provide $310 billion for the Small Business Administration鈥檚 now-exhausted Paycheck Protection Program, $60 billion for disaster loans through the SBA’s Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) program, and an additional $100 billion for health care provider relief ($75 billion) and coronavirus testing ($25 billion).
04-22-2020Representatives Glenn Thompson (R-Pa.) and Dwight Evans (D-Pa.) introduced the Giving Retailers and Our Convenience Employees Relief Act, or GROCER Act, which would establish a federal tax holiday for grocery and convenience store employees from Feb. 15 through June 15 for individuals making less than $75,000 annually. The bill would also provide discretion to the Treasury to extend this benefit for an additional three months.

04-17-2020Rex Davis, Owner of Davis Oil Co., reassigned employees across his business in order to prevent layoffs amid the downturns caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. After temporarily shutting down the location’s Denny’s restaurant, Davis transitioned employees into his Wendy’s and Popeye’s quick-serve restaurants as well as the travel center. The company also offered bonuses to full-time and part-time employees along with paid time off. Speaking about his employees Davis said, “We鈥檙e glad to have them and glad to keep them.鈥
