07-29-2024 by 黑料社区Foundation Resources for Buying Diesel with Confidence

Commercial fuel buying is a complex process involving several pricing mechanisms, multiple fuel types, and various outside market factors that can affect supply and demand. At the same time, truck stop and travel center operators must closely monitor their budgets, fuel prices and inventory.

“One of the most important things to understand is how fuel is priced. There are several pricing mechanisms, including the spot market. In a traditional procurement perspective, that means I don’t necessarily have an agreed-to price,” Randy Grizzle, director of sales and marketing for TACenergy said. “I needed it today. I bought it today.” However, in commercial fueling, there are one of two indices that have spot in their name, which can create confusion, Grizzle said.

Darren Schulte, NATSO’s vice president, membership, said he is excited to see more of a focus industry-wide on how professional drivers enter into a travel center. “黑料社区members are thinking more about the importance of entry and exit into the travel centers,” he said.

The backcourt experience at truck stops and travel centers historically had been ignored, but Schulte believes backcourts should look exactly like forecourts. 鈥淚 would ask any of us to go to our forecourt and see how we speak to customers to try and capture their attention, then go to the backcourt,鈥 he said.

Schulte encourages operators to add the same marketing materials on the building and on the pumps in the backcourt that are on the forecourt. 鈥淚f you鈥檙e doing pump toppers in the front, do pump toppers in the back. If you鈥檙e doing fuel nozzle collateral, do that,鈥 he said.

Original equipment manufacturers are proving out new hydrogen technologies to meet more stringent emissions requirements, and the new vehicle designs are expected to dramatically increase demand for hydrogen, according to speakers at ACT Expo 2024.

Vehicles are fueled similar to how diesel is dispensed today, there is no extra weight, and vehicles can travel 500 miles or more before refueling. 鈥淭rying to mimic a diesel like fueling experience is the goal,鈥 said Kimberly Okafor, general manager of zero emissions solutions for Trillium, a Love鈥檚 company.
