Congresswoman McMorris Rodgers Praises Broadway Truck Stop for Combating Human Trafficking
After the U.S. House of Representatives passed three pieces of legislation aimed at strengthening the nation’s anti-human trafficking laws, House Republican Conference Chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-Wash.) thanked groups within her home state of Washington working to combat human trafficking, including Dan Alsaker and Broadway Truck Stop.
In a recent letter to constituents, Rep. McMorris Rodgers said, “I was reminded that the heartbreaking tragedy of human trafficking happens right here in our backyard. I’m so thankful to the groups in our community who are fighting to make a difference in this regard — groups like the Jonah Project, the YWCA, HRC Ministries, Lutheran Community Services and Dan Alsaker of Broadway Truck Stop. The bills we passed send a strong message to those who wish to do harm to the most vulnerable in our community.”
The U.S. House of Representatives on July 12 passed H.R. 2664, Enhancing Detection of Human Trafficking Act, H.R. 2480, Empowering Law Enforcement to Fight Sex Trafficking Demand Act, and H.R. 2200, Frederick Douglass Trafficking Victims Prevention and Protection Reauthorization Act of 2017 — measures that Rep. McMorris Rodgers said strengthen public safety measures and crack down on human traffickers.
