FMCSA’s Acting Administrator Jim Mullen Steps Down

/

Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Acting Administrator Jim Mullen will leave his position at the end of August after a 10-month stint that included guiding the agency’s efforts during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Wiley Deck, a senior policy adviser within the Department of Transportation’s Office of the Secretary and with whom ºÚÁÏÉçÇøhas engaged on the issue of human trafficking will assume the role of Deputy Administrator.

Mullen was supportive of NATSO’s efforts to ensure that truckstops and travel plazas were permitted to remain open during the pandemic as many businesses were being forced to close due to state lock-down, stay-at-home or shelter-in-place orders.

Mullen thanked the nation’s truckstop and travel plaza industry for remaining open and serving the nation’s truck drivers amid the COVID-19 pandemic in opening FMCSA’s first virtual trucking safety summit Aug. 5.

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration is the federal government agency responsible for regulating and providing safety oversight of commercial motor vehicles.
