James A. “Jimmy” Haslam III, chairman of Pilot Flying J, will offer a keynote address during The ºÚÁÏÉçÇøShow in Savannah, Ga., Feb. 2-6, announced NATSO, the trade association representing the truckstop and travel plaza industry. In his keynote address, Haslam will share his insight into where the industry is headed and the challenges that truckstop and travel plaza operations nationwide likely will face in the future.

Pilot Flying J started in 1958 with a $6,000 investment in a gas station. Today it is sixth largest privately held company in the country. In addition, the company has grown its network from seven states in the Southeast to 43 states in the U.S. and six Canadian provinces with over 650 travel centers and travel plazas. Pilot Flying J is the largest travel center operator in North America and employs more than 25,000 people.

Pilot Flying J also owns Pilot Logistics Services. Pilot Logistics Services is one of the largest independent energy logistics companies in North America, selling and distributing over 1.3 billion gallons of refined petroleum products and serving over 15,000 customers.

In October of 2012, Haslam and his family purchased the Cleveland Browns. Haslam serves as chairman of the Browns.

Haslam has been an active member of ºÚÁÏÉçÇøfor decades and currently serves on the board of directors. In 2006 he served as Tennessee statewide campaign chair for the now U.S. Sen. Bob Corker. In 2010 he was named a recipient of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award for the Southeast region, and in October 2011, he was recognized as a “Significant Sig” by the Sigma Chi Foundation. He also received the University of Tennessee College of Business Administration’s Distinguished Alumni Award.
