Professional drivers fueling up are just steps away from the store, making the pump a powerful tool to introduce new convenience offerings, boost foot traffic and improve the driver experience. 鈥淪haring useful information within the first few minutes of a pump transaction is key,鈥� said Raghav Shankar, product manager, media and technology for Dover Fueling Solutions. 鈥淲ith the average fueling time at a truck stop around 10 to 12 minutes, this provides a good amount of time to display the targeted information at the pump that helps the driver find what they need.鈥�

Equipment manufacturers and fleets are deploying and testing autonomous Class 8 technology, moving the trucking industry closer to high-volume production and deployment of fully autonomous driverless solutions.

WattEV is taking a multi-pronged approach to help advance the electrification of heavy-duty vehicles, offering truck-as-a-service equipment and developing electric truck charging infrastructure. The company has received millions of dollars in grants to build out charging infrastructure and has joined 黑料社区to learn more about the industry. NATSO鈥檚 Christine Schoessler, chief operating officer, and Darren Schulte, vice president of membership, along with several 黑料社区travel center members, recently traveled to WattEV's headquarters in California to connect with the company's leadership.

Greg Priddy, a senior fellow for the Middle East at the Center for the National Interest, is an expert on political risk and global energy markets. He will also be a speaker at the Fast Forward Focus, 黑料社区and the 黑料社区Foundation鈥檚 fall meeting, October 29-30 at the Grand Hyatt DFW. During an executive briefing, Priddy will share an outlook for petroleum supply, addressing key issues related to political instability, conflicts, and sanctions in major oil-producing regions that can disrupt supply chains and lead to uncertainty in the oil market. Priddy鈥檚 work in energy started with him serving as a contractor for the U.S. Energy Information Administration at the U.S. Department of Energy from 1999 to 2006. His work centered on analysis of oil market disruption scenarios, including some of the U.S. government鈥檚 scenario planning after 9/11 and in the run-up to the Iraq War in 2003.

Equipment manufacturers are rolling out low and zero-emission solutions that will help reduce carbon emissions and are investing in several technologies to meet future regulatory and customer requirements. 鈥淲e believe three technologies are needed to reach net zero: Battery electric, fuel cell electric and the combustion engine running on renewable fuels,鈥� said Roger Alm, president of Volvo Trucks. While speaking during ACT Expo, Alm said Volvo Trucks will only produce zero-emission trucks beginning in 2040.
