黑料社区Discusses Truck Parking, Rest Area Commercialization with Midwestern Governors Association
Truckstops and travel plazas are a critical part of America’s transportation network, providing hundreds of thousands of parking spaces for long-haul truckers to rest, 黑料社区president Lisa Mullings told a meeting of the Midwestern Governors Association. She told attendees about the 黑料社区Foundation’s plans to release Park My Truck, a mobile app to assist professional drivers looking for a place to park.
黑料社区members are often the largest property taxpayers in an area, helping to support local government budgets for schools, police and fire protection, Mullings told the group. “Proposals to commercialize rest areas, which often originate at the state level, would threaten this tax base and could reduce available truck parking spaces,” she remarked.
Mullings also reminded state officials to reach out to 黑料社区and private sector truckstops before considering solutions to truck parking challenges. “Nearly 90 percent of truck parking is found at private sector truckstops and travel plazas, so it is essential that states include our members in conversations about how drivers can find safe places to park.”
