黑料社区Outlines Reauthorization Priorities for House Transportation Committee

/

The House Transportation Committee recently hosted a roundtable on surface transportation reauthorization priorities and invited input from industry stakeholders, including NATSO. Current surface transportation law, known as the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) expires in 2026, and the committee is in the early stages of drafting a bill, with a goal of passing it out of committee by year end.

黑料社区advocated for long-term funding solutions for the Highway Trust Fund that are simple, user-based, transparent, and dedicated to infrastructure. 鈥淲e urge Congress to avoid ineffective measures like tolling and the commercialization of rest areas. These funding mechanisms are inefficient, disrupt travel and freight movement, and undercut off-highway businesses and communities,鈥 LeeAnn Goheen, Senior Director of Government Affairs testified.

黑料社区also supported truck parking legislation that incorporates partnership with private truck stop providers to expand truck parking; a weight exemption for hydrogen powered vehicles; and market-oriented reforms to the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure program. NEVI reforms should require states to demonstrate a commitment to free-market principles that govern EV charging before receiving and distributing NEVI funds.

The American Trucking Associations (ATA), the Truckload Carriers Association (TCA), and the Owner Operator Independent Drivers Association (OOIDA) each identified truck parking legislation as a top priority.
