ºÚÁÏÉçÇøto Serve on U.S. DOT Human Trafficking Advisory Committee

/

The Department of Transportation recently announced that it has re-chartered its Advisory Committee on Human Trafficking as required under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

I am pleased to inform you that

Committee members represent a broad spectrum of transportation sectors, including trains, airlines, trucking fleets, and the bus industry, as well as religious organizations and human trafficking survivors.

The Committee, which will conduct its inaugural meeting Oct. 3, is tasked with producing a triennial counter-trafficking report with recommendations for countering human trafficking, an assessment of best practices by transportation stakeholders, and human trafficking violations involving commercial motor vehicles.

This appointment represents the second time that I have served on DOT’s Advisory Committee on Human Trafficking. I previously served as the 2018-2020 Vice Chair of ACHT's Subcommittee on Education and Awareness. The 2018-2019 ACHT issued a report titled, that offers a systematic assessment of data, strategies, policies, protocols, training and awareness needs regarding the intersection of the transportation sector and human trafficking.

NATSO's appointment to this committee underscores the great strides that the truck stop and travel center industry has made since first committing to fight human trafficking as part of DOT’s stakeholder group, Transportation Leaders Against Human Trafficking.
