黑料社区Urges NCWM To Withdraw Nozzle Standardization and Dispenser Filter Items From Meeting Agenda
黑料社区and a group of trade associations representing petroleum marketers last week urged the National Council on Weights and Measures (NCWM) to withdraw items pertaining to nozzle standardization and dispenser filters from the NCWM Laws and Regulations Committee’s agenda.
In a letter to Committee Chairwoman Judy Cardin, 黑料社区said proposals to require a 10 micron filter for fuel dispensers offering diesel, biodiesel and diesel fuel, and uniform fuel dispenser nozzle colors were not practical and could potentially create unintended consequences for consumers and fuel retailers. 黑料社区was joined in the letter by SIGMA, the Petroleum Marketers Association of America (PMAA), the American Petroleum Institute (API) and the National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS).
黑料社区said the trade associations oppose a mandate for 10 micron or smaller filters for diesel fuel dispensers because diesel engines on trucks already are equipped with two or three filters, which are more than adequate in filtering out any impurities.
黑料社区also said preventing consumer misfueling is important to its fuel retailers, but current regulations already require conspicuous labeling on dispensers. Furthermore, there is no evidence that color coding nozzles will prevent misfueling.
Marketers’ concerns regarding industry standardization of colors and fuel filters was covered extensively in a recent CSPnet highlighting industry concern about lack of disclosure on product transfer documents and bills of lading as refiners increase sales of B5 diesel blends.
