黑料社区announced today that Kodiak Robotics, a leading self-driving trucking company, will display an autonomous truck at the 2023 黑料社区Connect show in Dallas. The event, which will take place March 7-10, will provide truckstop and travel center executives to see one of Kodiak鈥檚 autonomous trucks firsthand while learning about its innovative features.

Advances in Class 8 autonomous and electric truck technologies continue to make headlines, but executives from two major trucking companies said they don鈥檛 expect the new technology to bring major changes to the long-haul trucking industry any time soon. However, hours-of-service and electronic logging device mandates are bringing changes that have made the speed of service at truckstops and travel plazas even more important.

09-14-2017 by NATSO Senate Convenes Hearing on Automated Trucks

The Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation convened a hearing Sept. 13 to explore automated vehicle technology for commercial trucks 鈥 including testing and deployment challenges as compared with highly-automated vehicles. Of interest to 黑料社区members, the hearing focused on whether separate standards should be required for highly-automated passenger vehicles and commercial trucks, and the potential employment challenges autonomous technology will have on the trucking industry. Committee Chairman John Thune (R-SD) and Senator Gary Peters (D-MI) on Sept. 8 released draft legislation on self-driving vehicles. Currently, the Thune-Peters draft legislation does not include regulations for commercial trucks.
