NATSO, representing the nation’s truckstops and travel plazas, the National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS) and the Society of Independent Gasoline Marketers of America (SIGMA) urged Members of Congress to oppose the Moving Forward Act, a $1.5 trillion infrastructure bill, ahead of today’s House vote. The legislation includes a focus on climate change policies but includes provisions that will discourage private businesses from investing in electric vehicle charging infrastructure and stifle the market’s transition to electric vehicles.

The House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee held a hearing on February 26 examining how federal infrastructure policy can help mitigate and adapt to climate change. The hearing was another of several hearings the Committee has held in the opening weeks of 2019, all designed to lay the foundation for a comprehensive infrastructure bill that House Democrats hope to pass by the end of May.

10-30-2018 by NATSO Republicans Seek to Repeal EV Tax Credit

Congressional Republicans are making another attempt to kill the federal tax credit for electric vehicles, after it was left out of their November 2017 tax plan. More than 57,000 households claimed the non-refundable Qualified Plug-in Electric Drive Motor Vehicle Credit for tax year 2016, up from 42,868 in 2015. The total value of credits reached $375.1 million for all claims in 2016 and $251.6 million in 2015.
