The House of Representatives late Friday night approved 219-212 a budget reconciliation bill reflecting President Biden’s $1.9 trillion COVID relief plan, sending the bill to the Senate for consideration. The legislation would provide direct payments, a child tax credit expansion in the form of direct payments, extended unemployment benefits, COBRA subsidies and ACA tax credit enhancements, state & local funding, among other provisions.

03-31-2014 by NATSO Minimum Wage Increase Vote Imminent in Senate

The Senate is expected to move forward with a vote to raise the Federal minimum wage. Sen. Tom Harkin’s (D-IA) legislation titled the Minimum Wage Fairness Act, S. 1737, would increase the Federal minimum wage for employees to $10.10 an hour and tie future minimum wage increases to inflation. The legislation also calls for a significant increase in the cash wage for tipped employees.
