NATSO, representing the nation’s truckstops and travel plazas, the National Association of Convenience Stores and the Society of Independent Gasoline Marketers of America, today encouraged members of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee to oppose the INVEST in America Act.

The best way to increase proliferation of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure throughout the United States is through private sector investment by businesses that currently serve the motoring public, a coalition representing cities and communities across America and tens of thousands of off-highway businesses, including truck stops and travel centers, convenience stores, restaurants, hotels and blind entrepreneurs, said today. The groups specifically noted that permitting EV charging stations at Interstate rest areas would discourage such investment and thus be counterproductive.

NATSO, the national association representing the nation’s travel plazas and truckstops, announced that it has named Delia Moon Meier, owner and senior vice president of Iowa 80 Group and CAT Scale Co., its 2020-2021 Chairman of the Board. Iowa 80 Group, based in Walcott, Iowa, owns and operates four large truckstops — Iowa 80, Joplin 44 Petro, the Oak Grove 70 Petro and the Kenly 95 Petro. CAT Scale Co. operates a nationwide network of more than 1,600 certified truck scales.

04-21-2020 by ºÚÁÏÉçÇøFoundation Lawmakers Introduce Measure to Establish Tax Holiday for Convenience Store, Grocery Employees

Representatives Glenn Thompson (R-Pa.) and Dwight Evans (D-Pa.) introduced the Giving Retailers and Our Convenience Employees Relief Act, or GROCER Act, which would establish a federal tax holiday for grocery and convenience store employees from Feb. 15 through June 15 for individuals making less than $75,000 annually. The bill would also provide discretion to the Treasury to extend this benefit for an additional three months.
