NATSO, the national association representing the travel plaza and truckstop industry, and the National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS) today commended the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee for advancing a bipartisan, five-year, $303.5 billion highway reauthorization bill, 鈥淪urface Transportation Reauthorization Act of 2021.鈥�

Senate EPW Approves Surface Transportation Reauthorization
The Senate Environment and Public Works Committee (EPW) unanimously approved $303.5 billion five-year surface transportation bill, in which 黑料社区has been closely engaged with lawmakers and staff and which would increase infrastructure funding by about 34 percent over the FAST Act . The committee also adopted a manager鈥檚 package of amendments to the underlying bill. That list of amendments has not yet been released, though about 90 had been filed as of Wednesday morning. EPW鈥檚 鈥淪urface Transportation Reauthorization Act of 2021鈥� does not include any language expanding tolling or scaling back the prohibition on commercial activities at Interstate rest areas. STRA includes $500 million per year for five years for electric vehicle charging an d other alternative fuel infrastructure, including hydrogen, natural gas and propane.

Senate EPW Unveils Surface Transportation Reauthorization Plan
The Senate Environment and Public Works Committee unveiled a five-year, $303.5 billion Surface Transportation Reauthorization Act of 2021 plan on May 22, after President Biden reduced the size of his $1.7 trillion infrastructure and jobs plan by about a quarter in a bid to advance negotiations with Republicans. STRA marks a 34 percent increase over current funding levels, with 90 percent of funds allocated to states through formula funding.
